Most tabs (or clip seals as they are also referred to) are a round, clear plastic adhesive with a perforation across the centre. Normally when a tab is applied, the perforation is placed such that the recipient can open it along the perforation as in the example below.

  1. Single, perforated tab holds two flaps of the mailing piece together.

Tabs are usually used to seal an open edge of an item. This may be a requirement for mailing or simply a preference.
