A flapped foldover carrier is usually constructed with a light card stock. It usually has a built-in pocket and foldover flap that covers the entire front. Before insertion, it looks like a piece of printed card stock that has been folded over, as per the following example:

- Flap folds down to close the piece.
- Internal pocket for carrying samples or literature.
- Sample or literature inserted into the pocket.
Product samples or promotional items are usually placed in the pocket along with other materials, before it is sealed, normally with a tab.
The postal indicia is usually printed on the front flap and the pieces are normally addressed on the front flap, before insertion begins. Once assembled and ready for mailing, the finished piece usually appears as follows:

- The postal indicia.
- The mailing address.
- Optional, but highly recommended tab to keep piece securely closed and helps prevent incidental removal of contents.
