Multiple-Sheet Tabloid Self-Mailer

The multiple sheet tabloid self-mailer is similar to the single sheet tabloid, except that it consists of multiple sheets that are nested inside one another. Again, these are frequently 11” X 17” sheets that are folded over to 8.5” X 11”. If you wish to leave the piece at the flat 8.5” X 11” finished size, it would have to be saddle-stitched (stapled along the spine as some magazines are) or tabbed. If you opt for single tab, along the longest edge, the inner sheets could still slip out. As such, we recommend using three tabs: one along the longest edge, one along the top edge and one along the bottom edge. If the 8.5” X 11” piece is folded to a finished size of 8.5” X 5.5”, a tab would not necessarily be required, but would still be recommended.

If mailed as Publications Mail, there would be no price advantage to fold the pieces to the 8.5” X 5.5” finished size. However, if mailed as pre-sorted Addressed Admail, the postage would be much less expensive if folded to the 8.5” X 5.5” size, provided the thickness does not exceed 5 mm.

  1. Single fold divides the page into two panels.
  2. Second, folded sheet allows for extra pages.
