At about 4:30 PM on Tuesday afternoon the Gotcha Gang slipped into town and rode off with over $4,000 from an unsuspecting mailer.
It was a simple matter of using a 6.5" X 9.5" envelope for a 25-gram Lettermail mailing, when a narrower envelope would have been sufficient. The gotcha was that beyond a width of 6 1/8", the cost per piece was a staggering $1.10 as compared to the mere $0.52 at 6 1/8" or less. On the 7,000 piece mailing the Gotcha Gang claimed $4,060.
