The 3C Project

Caring for the Charities in our Community
in Waterloo, Wellington and Perth counties

Heartwood Place is a charitable organization established in 2001 to address the serious need for affordable housing in the Region of Waterloo. Although our community has become a thriving centre of success for information technology and home to thousands of post-secondary students, there are many people struggling to survive on low incomes. Over 10,000 are on the waiting list for a decent “place to call home”! In the past five years we have made great strides forward and are committed to continuing to be an active contributor of solutions for this serious problem.

Our Mission

"To provide safe, affordable and adequate housing"

Our Vision

"That lives of individuals and families will improve and communities of hope will emerge as we provide safe, affordable and adequate housing"

Our Values

  • We respect the right of each person to have a place to call home.
  • We believe that our local community will actively support our fundraising efforts.
  • We work in collaboration with community stakeholders in envisioning each project.
  • We select effective partners in project development and management whose objectives and values are complementary to ours.
  • We benefit our cities by reclaiming old sites and constructing environmentally sound and attractive buildings.
  • We facilitate the creation of community through designing welcoming and functional environments.
  • We ensure financial stability for our organization through wise use of resources.
  • We plan each project for long-term viability and sustainability.
  • We commit to provide sound property management for each project and strong support for our tenants.
  • We honor everyone's contribution, including volunteers.
  • We advocate our collective responsibility to address issues of homelessness and inadequate housing.
