The St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation raises funds to invest in the enhanced delivery of healthcare at our hospital.
St. Mary’s was founded in 1924 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton. Since 1924, we have been an island of hope and compassion for the residents of Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas.
Known for our uncommon grace and respect for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit, St. Mary’s is considered a community jewel. Over the decades, we have combined medical excellence and innovation with the compassionate care and mission-focused work that is the hallmark of our Founders.
In 2001, we became home to the St. Mary’s Regional Cardiac Care Centre and now offer a full range of advanced cardiac services to residents of Waterloo Region and the surrounding counties of Grey, Bruce, Wellington, and Perth. In addition to cardiac diagnostics, we provide angioplasty, by-pass surgery, heart-valve replacement surgery, pacemaker insertions, and cardiac rehabilitation. Earlier this year, both our cardiac surgery program and cardiac angioplasty program were recognized as the best in Ontario.
In addition to our cardiac program, we are developing Centres of Excellence in Respirology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Thoracics, and Minimal-Access Surgery.
As we continue to devote our days and nights to the community we love, we live the credo of our Founders: it is an honour to serve the sick. If you would like to support our efforts, please contact the Foundation at www.smgh.ca/foundation or foundation@smgh.ca or call 519.749.6797.
