CNIB is the primary source of support, information, and most importantly, hope, for all Canadians affected by vision loss.
We are recognized experts in vision health and have been making a profound difference in the lives of Canadians since 1918.

To be the leader in promoting vision health and enhancing independence for people with vision loss.
What we do
As a nationwide, community-based, registered charity, we are committed to research, public education and the vision health of all Canadians. CNIB provides the services and support necessary to enjoy a good quality of life while living with vision loss. We focus on protection and prevention today, as well as on treatments and cures for tomorrow.
CNIB reaches out to communities across the country, offering access to rehabilitation and training, innovative consumer products, peer support programs, as well as alternative format newspapers and magazines, braille and talking books from its library.
Who we serve
CNIB offers specialized programs and services for people of all ages and their families. Everyone is welcome at CNIB. Not everyone who comes to CNIB is totally blind; in fact, 9 out of 10 people assist have some vision.
We encourage you to contact us as soon as vision loss is detected. No doctor’s referral is required and almost all of our services are provided at no cost to the people who need our support.
