Welcome to the 3C Project, an initiative founded and maintained by Highland Marketing in order to foster and promote a sense of volunteerism, encouraging people in our community to become involved, at some level, with a local charitable organization.
Each of the three Cs in the 3C Project represent one of the three key words from the project’s fundamental purpose: Caring for the Charities of our Community. It’s about recognizing the various charities that are doing such amazing and wonderful work in our local community - encompassing Waterloo, Wellington and Perth counties – and about encouraging others to get involved with these organizations.
As such, the 3C Project website collects information on all local charities who have elected to become a part of the project. Each entry features a brief description of the organization, as well as contact information for anyone who might want to become involved with that charity.
Are you already associated with a local charity that is not yet involved with the 3C Project? We encourage you to contact Highland Marketing directly at (519) 886-6777. The listing is free, and being a part of the 3C Project is a great way to help increase awareness about your group or organization.
If you’re not involved with a charitable group, consider browsing through this website. There is a vast array of different organizations with equally different needs. You may well find a charity that will allow you to dedicate your time and particular talents to the betterment of our community!
Heartwood Place is a charitable organization established in 2001 to address the serious need for affordable housing in the Region of Waterloo. Over 10,000 are on the waiting list for a decent “place to call home”! In the past five years we have made great strides forward and are committed to continuing to be an active contributor of solutions for this serious problem.

Mission: Grand River Hospital Foundation raises funds to help Grand River Hospital provide exceptional health care.
Vision: Grand River Hospital Foundation fosters a philanthropic environment where everyone in the community understands and passionately supports exceptional health care.
In the last ten years, Grand River Hospital and the Foundation have worked together to raise more than $71 million to transform health care delivery for the people in our community. These funds have been raised through two capital campaigns (Campaign KW and One Voice One Vision) as well as through regular cash gifts, planned gifts, corporate gifts, tribute and memorial gifts, gifts-in-kind and special events.
The expansion of services during this time means it is no longer necessary for patients to leave the community for significant medical care. Money raised by the Grand River Hospital Foundation has helped fund regional programs such as the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, the region’s first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) site and expanded Emergency care. It took the community working together and providing financial support to ensure that citizens in the region were able to stay closer to home to receive comprehensive care.
Like the great tradition of caring at Grand River Hospital, we are fortunate to have a community with a longstanding tradition of support. Whether it be individuals, local businesses and corporations, service clubs or private foundations, donors to Grand River Hospital Foundation have always had a common bond: their commitment to health care and building upon a health community.

The St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation raises funds to invest in the enhanced delivery of healthcare at our hospital.
St. Mary’s was founded in 1924 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton. Since 1924, we have been an island of hope and compassion for the residents of Kitchener-Waterloo and surrounding areas.
Known for our uncommon grace and respect for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit, St. Mary’s is considered a community jewel. Over the decades, we have combined medical excellence and innovation with the compassionate care and mission-focused work that is the hallmark of our Founders.
In 2001, we became home to the St. Mary’s Regional Cardiac Care Centre and now offer a full range of advanced cardiac services to residents of Waterloo Region and the surrounding counties of Grey, Bruce, Wellington, and Perth. In addition to cardiac diagnostics, we provide angioplasty, by-pass surgery, heart-valve replacement surgery, pacemaker insertions, and cardiac rehabilitation. Earlier this year, both our cardiac surgery program and cardiac angioplasty program were recognized as the best in Ontario.
In addition to our cardiac program, we are developing Centres of Excellence in Respirology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Thoracics, and Minimal-Access Surgery.
As we continue to devote our days and nights to the community we love, we live the credo of our Founders: it is an honour to serve the sick. If you would like to support our efforts, please contact the Foundation at www.smgh.ca/foundation or foundation@smgh.ca or call 519.749.6797.

Farmers Feed Cities! is an agriculture awareness campaign working with farmers across Ontario. Farm families have been growing food for generations, and we’re proud of our tradition of providing, safe, reliable food that tastes great!
The slogan “Farmers Feed Cities!” was created as a placard for a 2005 rally and is now a successful public awareness campaign in its second year. The Farmers Feed Cities! campaign seeks to make a stronger link between farm and non-farm families by talking about the things we all have in common – the benefits we all enjoy that depend on a healthy agriculture sector.
Coordinated by Ontario Grains & Oilseeds, the campaign is focused on securing a long-term solution to the farm income crisis plaguing the grains and oilseeds sector. The bright yellow signs, flags and banners can be seen at events, fairs, festivals and parades across Ontario, challenging everyone to ‘picture yourself getting involved.’ It’s working. Rural and urban families from every walk of life are taking the time to learn more about agriculture, grains & oilseeds and the challenges facing farm families. Building this kind of awareness is critical. While it’s clear that farmers feed cities, it’s also true that farmers need cities – to show their support of domestic agriculture.
